The end of May and all is well in the world and if the glorious weather isn’t something to celebrate then maybe our topical discussion for this week will be.
Always keen to celebrate success we take a look at what we are calling Corporate Gongs but could just as easily be labelled as badges, accolades or achieved standards. From ISO Standards to Investors In People and many in between there are benefits to be had from applying for these types of accreditation. Follow the links for more information.
We continue a similar theme as we look at forthcoming events;
- BSI14001 Conference – Manchester
- Tech Severn Conference – Shrewsbury
- Growing Sales Workshop – Manchester
- Finding Your Voice Online – Wrexham
- The Social Enterprise Conference – Wrexham
In our reviews this week we look elements of the FT UK Business Conference which Heather attended in Manchester earlier in the month and highlight a couple of uber useful Apps that Tracy has been trialing.
And finally, our Business Guru under the spotlight was shopkeeper turned dragon Theo Paphitis. One of may dyslexic entrepreneurs to rise to considerable success Paphitis seems to still care about the small business owner who is trying to achieve their own share of success. Checkout #SBS to see what it’s all about.
As for quotes from Mr Paphitis, both this week feature the word ‘preach’. I’m say nothing…
“One of the things I preach to all my staff is never be frightened to make a decision.”
“The thing I preach constantly is do your research; build your knowledge base. Don’t just go into business on a whim or a prayer – and don’t think ‘I’m an entrepreneur so I have to take risks’. Entrepreneurs don’t take risks. They take calculated risks; only the good ones.”
